Acrylic, also known as Poly(methyl methacrylate) or acrylic glass, is a transparent thermoplastic generally used in sheet form as a shatter-resistant alternative to glass. It is 50% lighter in weight as compared to glass and 10 times impact-resistant, which also gives better transparency. The polymers in it are synthetic materials that are formed by a chemical reaction between a monomer and a catalyst.
