Processing
Surfaces that will come into contact with the sealant must be dry, clean, and free of dust, dirt, rust, oil, or similar contaminants. Non-porous surfaces should be cleaned using a solvent and a clean, lint-free cotton cloth. The area must then be immediately wiped dry with a second clean cloth before the solvent evaporates.
For application from cartridges, cut the thread open, fix the nozzle on top and cut to the required bead size. The sealant can be applied in beads or layers. It requires moisture to cure. A decrease in temperature or humidity, as well as restricted air circulation, can significantly extend the time required for complete curing.
It is the responsibility of the user to test the compatibility of the sealant with the adjoining materials. Incompatible substances like coating materials (e.g., paints, varnishes, and glazes) or organic plasticisers containing rubbers (e.g., EPDM, butyl, and neoprene) can lead to discolouration or other impairments like loss of adhesion of the sealant. Substances that come into direct contact with the sealant after application, such as cleaning agents, or indirect contact through outgassing, can impair the function of the sealant or alter its appearance.
Due to the wide variety of possible materials and substrates, especially with plastics, WACKER cannot make any general statements regarding compatibility or adhesion. In case of doubt, users must carry out their own preliminary tests. The use of tooling agents should be avoided if possible. Otherwise, water or a diluted solution of a little neutral soap or alcohol in water should be sparingly applied.
Certification
WACKER® WN - WEATHERSEAL NEUTRAL is certified and classified according to

Adhesion
WACKER® WN - WEATHERSEAL NEUTRAL adheres excellently to many non-porous, silicate-based substrates—such as glass, tiles, ceramics, glazed tiles, enamel, and clinker—without the need for prior treatment with primers. It also bonds well to metals such as aluminium, steel, zinc, and copper, to painted, stained, or impregnated wood, as well as to many plastics. Users must carry out their own tests due to the great variety of substances. The adhesion can be improved in many cases by pretreatment of the substrates with a primer. If adhesion difficulties arise, please contact our technical service.
